34th Annual International Art Show & Sale

International Art Show September 8 - 10

The Raton Arts & Humanities Council, Inc presents the 34th Annual International Art Show, sponsored by the International Bank. Open to the public daily from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the International Room of the bank in downtown Raton, featuring fine art, sculpture, and jewelry from artists throughout the region. The show concludes with an award reception on Friday, September 10, at from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Regional Economic Development Summit for Colfax County

group of citizens organizing economic development September 10, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Cabinet Secretary Fred Mondragon will give an opening presentation followed by brief remarks from Paul Jenkins of the Raton Community Economic Development Group. Different panels throughout the day will discuss recruiting business, the role of education and community involvement, financing opportunities, assets for economic development, and how economic development can take place regionally.

The public is invited to attend and take part in this tremendous opportunity to learn from others and to discuss Raton's economic future.

Lip Sing 2010

Fun for the whole family! The Annual Raton Lions Club sponsors this two-day event that provides outrageous, lively, and even some very good entertainment as entertainers take their lip sync acts to the Shuler stage. First, second, third, and fourth place prizes will be awarded after the final evening performance.

Street Fair

September 18, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Street Fair on 2nd Street

The Raton Main Street organization sponsors the annual Street Fair in downtown Raton in September. This year's event will include the Raton Bear Fest, the Raton Arts Council's Wine Tasting/silent auction, a Chili Cook-off,and a wonderful variety of vendors along 2nd street between Park Avenue and Rio Grande Avenue.

The Fair will culminate with a street dance featuring music provided by Level 5 on Cook Avenue between First and Second Street from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Rhythm & Passion

Raton Fall Festival & Baseball Bash

Baseball - sliding into home plate October 1 - 2
The Department of Parks and Recreation in conjunction with the New Mexico Dept of Tourism and the RREC is hosting the Inaugural Raton Fall Festival and Baseball Bash that will feature four junior college teams competing in a baseball tournament at Gabrielle field while food, music, fun and crafts fill Tiger Football Stadium. Raton Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament

This 2 Player, Scotch format has something for everyone! Prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, hole in one, and more! Generous prize money - First place is $400, second place is $300, third place $200, and fourth place $100, and a low entry fee make this a very popular event for golfers of every ability. Redhead Express

Original and Traditional Bluegrass, Gospel and Old-Timey Music! The Walker Family, aka The RedHead Express, from Alaska via Branson, are equally at home playing straightforward bluegrass as they are playing their own unique renditions of old-time and gospel music. This wholesome family showcases their four daughters’ beautiful harmonies and original songs. Mom and Dad add vocal depth and backup, and occasionally feature their three young boys. Presented by the Raton Arts & Humanities Council as part of the 2010-2011 Performing Arts series.
